The course plays to par 71 from the white tees and features the traditional links characteristics of firm, fast-running fairways, subtle undulations, and well-protected greens. The prevailing coastal winds add an extra dimension to every round.

See Alnmouth Village through the eyes of Cookie Jar Golf

Cookie Jar Golf

The club was established in 1869 making it the oldest 9 hole links in England. The course was designed by the famous Scottish golfer Mungo Park, winner of the 1874 Open Championship at Musselburgh. He was also the club's first professional/greenkeeper. We stopped by here after a game at Goswick last year, and having been told about it by Ronan Rafferty we just couldn't resist.

We're so glad we did. This 9 hole layout is the epitome of simplicity. 5 holes away, and 4 coming back, almost like a miniature version of The Old Course at St Andrews with Granny Clark's Wynd crossing the second fairway, and starting / finishing from within the town.

There's a lot of history to this little beauty of a course, and we're delighted to bring you this film.
